A FAMILY of Ogo St in Valelevu, Nasinu is in mourning after three of their loved ones were involved in a road accident yesterday that later claimed the life of their youngest sister, Archana Chand.

The 26-year-old victim was accompanying her older sister and a relative to a nearby shop when a van allegedly hit them along Kanace Rd in Valelevu.

Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro said a 35-year-old woman is admitted in hospital in critical condition, while a 33-year-old man is admitted at the observation ward.

She confirmed the 25-year-old van driver was taken into police custody.

The road death toll currently stands at 52 compared with 47 for the same period last year.
