Fiji’s multicultural, multiethnic and inclusive society is a product of religious and community groups who established schools across the country that taught values which have cultivated a unique sense of togetherness.
“We must honour and thank our ancestors and predecessors for creating this wonderful culture of respect for one another, therefore, we recognize the contributions of organizations like the Arya Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji and other religious and community-based groups for their vision of building schools like this,” Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations Minister Agni Deo Singh said this while officiating at Jai Narayan Jokhan Memorial Primary School in Navua’s annual awards ceremony this week.
“Together, we can achieve more than we ever could alone. The school’s holistic approach to learning, including sports, competitions, and academia, has helped children develop into well-rounded individuals.”
Mr Singh also lauded the management, teachers and students for achieving a literacy milestone with no non-readers recorded this year, which he labelled “a big achievement for the school.”
For the graduating year 8 students, the minister emphasized the importance of maintaining good habits as well as adjusting to a new environment and more demanding academic workload which lay ahead in high school next year.
