STRENGTH does not always come from having more, but from being raised by a woman who never let you feel you had less.
For 23-year-old Miss Kaibu Island Emi Ravela, being raised by a single mother shaped her understanding of hope, resilience and the power of a woman’s love. Growing up in a single-parent home taught Ms Ravela that a woman’s strength could be quiet but unshakable, and that love could hold a family together through uncertainty.
“Watching my mother raise me alone taught me that strength is quiet, love is loud, and one woman can be enough,” she said.
That experience has now become the foundation of her advocacy message for the Miss Hibiscus Festival.
Ms Ravela said she understood both the struggles and strength that came with being raised by a single mother and wanted to turn that lived experience into an advocacy platform.
She hopes to be a voice of hope for young women from similar backgrounds.
“When one woman rises, she lifts every other woman around her.”
