ENERGY Fiji Ltd is working with the Ministry of Finance, Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) and other agencies to verify eligibility requirements and facilitate the implementation of subsidy arrangements for MSMEs.
The Government had approved the extension of the subsidy on the interim electricity fuel surcharge of 5.91 cents per kilowatt hour to all eligible MSMEs with an annual gross turnover of less than $30,000.
The EFL has advised all qualifying MSME customers to complete the required government subsidy registration form, which needs to be validated with gross income as per the most recent return or assessment from the FRCS.
EFL’s chief executive officer Fatiaki Gibson said the subsidy would be applied from the customer’s next billing cycle following successful application approval and verification of the required documentation.
“EFL encourages all eligible MSME customers to submit their applications as early as possible to avoid delays in processing and implementation,” Mr Gibson said in a statement.
“Customers are also encouraged to ensure their MSME electricity account is registered under the official business or trading name to assist with the verification and approval process.”
The interim electricity fuel surcharge of 5.91 cents per kWh came into effect on May 26.
Mr Gibson said they acknowledged and appreciated the Government’s continued support in assisting vulnerable households and small businesses during this period of global fuel price volatility and economic uncertainty.
He said the initiative formed part of broader national efforts to support economic resilience, protect livelihoods, and ensure continued access to reliable electricity services, while Fiji continued its transition toward a more sustainable and renewable energy future.
