Energy Fiji Limited (EFL) recorded its highest-ever number of electricity customers in 2025, with continued growth in demand reflecting Fiji’s expanding economy and rising living standards.

According to EFL’s 2025 Annual Report, recently tabled in Parliament, the utility says it is well positioned to meet the country’s increasing energy needs through forward planning and prudent management.

The report notes that Fiji has experienced “unprecedented economic growth in the last decade,” creating a stronger business environment and improving living standards, with electricity demand expected to continue rising.

EFL’s total customer base increased from 223,539 in 2024 to 227,607 in 2025, an increase of about 1.8 per cent.

The company said the record customer base comprises 58,459 prepay customers and 169,148 post-pay customers, compared with 57,146 prepay and 166,393 post-pay customers the previous year.

A breakdown of customers shows EFL supplied electricity to 204,920 domestic customers, 22,578 commercial customers and 109 large-scale industrial customers at the end of 2025.

The report also highlights continued growth in national electricity consumption.

Electricity demand increased by 2.28 per cent during the year, rising from 1,089 million units in 2024 to 1,114 million units in 2025.

EFL said the increase in demand supports the growth in its customer base and reflects increased electricity consumption across the residential, commercial and industrial sectors.

The report also shows electricity sales revenue has continued to trend upwards over the past decade, driven by sustained growth in residential, commercial and industrial electricity use.

EFL said it remains committed to investing in electricity infrastructure to ensure reliable supply as Fiji’s economy expands and demand for energy continues to grow.
