The Nausori Ecumencial Community and the Fiji Council of Churches came together to celebrate Resurrection Sunday with a march that began from the Davuilevu end of the Rewa Bridge and ending with a service at the Central Christian Centre Church last Sunday afternoon.
Reverend Manasa Vatanitawake said the annual event first began in 2015 with members of the Fiji Council of Churches (FCC) gathering to celebrate the resurrection.
“We’ve (FCC) been staging this event since 2015, except for last year (2020) because of the pandemic and since it’s a comeback year, we thought why not stage it outside of Suva. So Nausori was chosen as the place to do this merely because they have an already established and a very strong ecumenical community,” Mr Vatanitawake said.
“The whole reason is to bring member churches and friends together to a place of unity, a location where everyone can celebrate Jesus Christ and his resurrection and at the same celebrating the unity of the body of Christ.”
Mr Vatanitawake said an invitation was extended to all Christian churches in the Nausori greater area and the support and participation by the churches was overwhelming with close to 2000 people gathered at the CCC complex.
