THE Fijian Drua Women will enter the 2026 Super Rugby Women’s season determined to reclaim the title under new head coach Mike Legge.
Legge officially takes over from former coach Ifereimi Rawaqa following the 2025 season, ushering in a new chapter for one of the competition’s most successful teams.
The Drua Women have enjoyed a remarkable rise since joining Super W in 2022, winning back-to-back championships in their first two seasons before finishing runners-up in 2024 and semi-finalists last year.
Now the side is aiming to secure a third Super W crown.
Jeff Miller said the club was excited about Legge’s appointment after his strong performances with the national women’s side.
His return is expected to strengthen the team’s attacking identity while improving tactical discipline and consistency.
This season the team will again be led by captain Bitila Tawake, whose return provides a major boost to the squad.
The 30-member side also includes 18 internationally capped players from the recent Rugby World Cup alongside 12 new players eager to make their mark at Super W level.
Among the key players returning this season are speedster Atelaite Buna and veteran forward Karalaini Naisewa, the club’s most-capped player.
The Drua Women will open their 2026 campaign against the Waratahs at Leichhardt Oval on June 6 before returning home for back-to-back matches at King Charles Park against the Western Force Women and Brumbies Women.
The home fixtures are expected to play a crucial role in the Drua’s title ambitions given the team’s impressive record in Fiji.
