Driu: Coordination issues to be improved in traffic operations

Fiji Police says it still needs to improve some coordination issues in their traffic operations are students returned to school today for the new academic year.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu said teams of officers were deployed early this morning for traffic and school patrol duties to teachers and children were assisted in crossing duties and school visitations.

He said traffic teams tried their best to control the flow of traffic from side roads, and urged drivers to, while being safe, exercise caution in giving way to vehicles coming from the side roads when possible.

He added their teams were working to improve their peak traffic period operations.

“We would like to thank members of the public for your patience this morning as back to school traffic operations got underway throughout the country,” ACP Driu said.

Despite operational issues, he said members of the public were to be commended for their patience and understanding.
