THE Dudley High School netball team is determined to restore lost glory to their school in the Fiji Secondary Schools Netball Suva Zone 1 competition today.
Co-ordinator Julia Vakacavu said with the help of two national reps in the team they had really improved in their performance.
“Fiji national under-21 reps Aliti Toribau and Laniana Naisamu are both part of the under -17 grade so they are the backbone of the team’s performances,” Vakacavu said.
She added the duo had been helping the team in terms of improving their skill and executing their game plan.
“Every afternoon during the team’s training session, whatever the girls learn during their national team training, they applied it to the team which is a good start for us and very helpful to us teachers because it lightens our workload.
“One of the things that we really need is a good facility, a proper netball court where we can have our training sessions. We’re not complaining, but we’re grateful for what we have. We also need to improve on these facilities if we want to get better results.”
She said they were looking to get a new set of uniform because they had been using the old one for the past five years.
“A new set of uniforms will help boost the morale of the students. Our first aid kit and the school is going to provide that,” se said.
Vakacavu said the last time Dudley won was in 2014 in Nadi when their under-15 grade reached the final against Sila Central High School.
“Our under-15 grade are now our under-19 team, so we are banking on them to get us back on top and we know with our spiritual upbringing, we believe we can do it.
“So if we want to win then we have to rely on our faith and how hard the girls and the coaches work towards achieving their goal,” she said.
