The Fiji men’s and women’s teams had a podium finish in Rugby 7s at the 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games in Trinidad and Tobago.

The men’s side had to settle for silver after going down 20-25 to Scotland in the gold medal match.

The young Fijians had defeated favourites South Africa 17-10 in the semis.

The women’s side took out bronze defeating Kenya 22-10 for third place.

It was a tough outing for the women in the semi-finals, going down to favourites Australia 5-43.

Meanwhile, swimmer Anahira McCutcheon, who completed the women’s 100m Butterfly, was ranked 19th from a pool of 29 swimmers with a time of a minute and eight seconds.

Another swimmer, David Young was ranked 22 from a pool of 34 swimmers in the men’s 100m Butterfly event in a time of 58.16s.
