UNBEATEN Cuvu College will be looking to maintain their winning momentum when they face Natabua High School in the final round of the Western Zone U18 competition this Saturday.
The Sigatoka-based side sits comfortably at the top of the standings following an impressive campaign and has already secured its place in the Vodafone Deans national playoffs.
Team captain Kamenieli Naikaniwasawasa, a native of Nadrala Village in Nadroga, said the team remains focused despite already booking a playoff berth.
“We thank God for our victory against Ba Provincial in our second last round robin match. We know we are the table leaders in the U18 grade, but we will not let ourselves down and will continue to fight on,” Naikaniwasawasa said.
He also called on supporters to rally behind the team as they prepare for the next stage of the competition.
“We are asking for the nation’s support as we continue our journey.”
Looking ahead to the national playoffs, Naikaniwasawasa acknowledged the challenges that await them against the top teams from other zones.
“We know the national playoffs will be tough because we will be facing champions from the Southern and Eastern zones. They are all strong teams, but we will continue to work hard and try our best to bring the Deans Trophy back to Nadroga.”
Cuvu College has been one of the standout teams in the Western Zone this season and will be aiming to complete the round robin stage unbeaten before turning their attention to the national title race.
