Despite the rainy weather, the Pherrus Trophy Schoolgirls Southeast zone quarter-finals took place as scheduled at Sila Central Grounds in Nausori yesterday.
Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League competition media officer Lai Corerega said the organisers were able to successfully complete the quarter-finals.
“One of the most surprising outcomes of the day was the match between the defending champions Namosi Titans and the Ratu Latianara Cowgirls,” said Corerega.
“The game was close, going into sudden death after fulltime, even after extra time the score remained locked at 4-all. The win ultimately being awarded to Ratu Latianara Cowgirls as they had scored the first try, in accordance with the game’s bylaws.
“In the West Zone Schoolgirls category, Ra High Roosters secured a solid 6-0 victory against the strong Nasikawa Raiders.
“The efforts of the organizers from both zones were recognised for their dedication in ensuring the completion of the SESSRL Zone quarter-finals and the WFSSRL Zone semi-finals at Garvey Park, Tavua.”
In other match results, the Pherrus Schoolgirls Southeast Zone quarter-finals saw Wainimala Raiders defeat ACS Knights 2-0, Naitasiri emerged victorious against Nuku Rabbitohs 8-0, and Sila Tigers lost 0-4 to Lomaivuna Raiders.
In the Western Zone Schoolboys U15 matches, Nasau Central Eels secured an 8-6 win against Sigatoka Valley, Natabua Bulldogs won against Sigatoka Valley 16-8, and Sigatoka Methodist triumphed over Ba Methodist 12-6.
