THE High Court in Suva will set a trial date for two police officers and two civilians charged with methamphetamine-related offences when the matter is recalled in three months.
Police officers Sevuloni Lubi, 43, and Ratu Lote Lewaivanua, 32, together with civilians Eroni Kitanamati Bati, 37, and Alipate Matadigo, appeared before Justice Daniel Goundar for a pre-trial conference last Friday.
The four are charged in relation to the alleged importation and possession of 4.7 kilograms of liquid methamphetamine in 2025.
Justice Goundar directed the men’s lawyers to resolve all outstanding litigation issues, including any representations relating to the charges, before the matter is recalled on November 6.
Senior State lawyer Eoghn Samisoni informed the court that the prosecution would not rely on the accused men’s caution interviews at trial because they contained no admissions.
Bail was extended for all four accused.
