SAMUELA Tawase, acquitted in May on charges of sacrilege against a Samabula Hindu temple, could be released to his family after three months of treatment at the Saint Giles Hospital.
Mr Tawase, who was accused of attacking the Samabula Shiv Temple in July last year, was acquitted in May after the court found he was of unsound mind at the time of the attack.
He appeared before Magistrate Yogesh Prasad yesterday for a review of his condition, with a psychiatric report recommending that he return to his family and undertake strict community work.
However, Magistrate Prasad expressed reservations about the recommendation, raising concerns that Mr Tawase could return to drug use if released into the community. The court is now considering other options, including releasing Mr Tawase to his family while requiring him to undertake the community work recommended by his doctors. The case has been adjourned to September 2
