CONSTRUCTION of a $12 million retail complex in Lautoka has not been affected by the slowdown in supply of building material from China.

Work on The Hub, located on the corner of Dravuni St and Sukanaivalu Rd, is still in progress and expected to finish soon.

Project consultant Amit Chand said rain had hindered exterior activities but finishing work was progressing well.

“We have not faced difficulty in procuring items from China as I’ve worked extensively with the Chinese in last 15 years,” Mr Chand said.

“Proper planning and orders through ports and cities that are not affected by the virus are operational and factories are working normal.

“There can be a few delays in paperwork which can be three to eight days, otherwise orders are being manufactured and delivered quite well.”

Mr Chand said while other companies were feeling the pinch as a result of the coronavirus outbreak, his company had not been affected.

He said construction works at The Hub had provided employment for about 200 people.

He said The Hub would have everything consumers looked for in one complex.
