Lautoka Netball Association (LNA) recently concluded its year-end Inter Club tournament, supported by a generous $10,000 sponsorship from Flour Mills of Fiji (FMF), covering the duration of one year.

FMF Regional Sales Manager Krishnita Reddy expressed her admiration for the sport during her address to the crowd at the multi-purpose court.

“Netball is a sport that embodies teamwork, skill, and sportsmanship, and I am honored to witness the dedication and passion of all those involved in this event.

“First and foremost, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the organisers, volunteers, and sponsors who have worked tirelessly to make this tournament a reality. Your hard work and commitment have not gone unnoticed, and it is thanks to your efforts that we are able to come together today to celebrate this wonderful sport,” said Reddy.

Reddy also commended the players for their hard work and emphasised the importance of good sportsmanship and respect for opponents.

“To the players, I want to commend each one of you for your dedication and perseverance. You have spent countless hours training and honing your skills, and now is your time to showcase your talent on the court.

“Remember that while winning is important, it is equally essential to display good sportsmanship and respect for your opponents. Play with passion, but always uphold the values of fair play and camaraderie. Addressing the coaches, Reddy highlighted their crucial role as mentors, motivators, and role models beyond teaching technical aspects. She expressed gratitude for their commitment to nurturing the next generation of netball stars.

“Coaches, your role in shaping these young athletes goes beyond teaching them the technical aspects of the game. You are mentors, motivators, and role models. Your guidance and support are invaluable in helping these players reach their full potential. Thank you for your unwavering commitment to nurturing the next generation of netball stars,” she added.

Lautoka Netball executives Kalesi Vuniyayawa was grateful for FMF support and was also grateful with the turnout.

“Day One we started with our open grades, we had good numbers of players. “Our focus is grassroot netball and that why we are focused on getting these younger grades as low as U9,” Vuniyayawa said.

The event witnessed an impressive gathering of approximately 420 players at the multipurpose court.

Meanwhile in the U9 grade final Rising Stars defeated Angels Stars 5-1 in the main cup final.
