NOTHING brings people together quite like the festive cheer and community spirit of Christmas.
At Jittu Estate, residents, especially the youths and children, came together in large numbers to partake in the much-anticipated Jittu Vuvale Fun Day.
In July of this year, the multipurpose court at Lagilagi Housing in Jittu Estate in Raiwaqa was unveiled, quickly establishing itself as a vital sporting facility for the local community.
Richard Dyer, the coordinator for Inspire Pacific, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, which promised a day filled with activities suitable for individuals of all ages.
From a bouncy castle and engaging games for the children to family-friendly competitions and a volleyball tournament featuring approximately 20 teams, the majority of which hailed from Jittu Estate, the atmosphere was buzzing with excitement.
Inspire Pacific’s involvement with Jittu Estate stemmed from its proximity to their church in Samabula and a desire to support the young men in the neighborhood who were facing various challenges, such as homelessness, loitering, or passing through the juvenile centre.
“Today (yesterday) is all about fun day, it’s a Jittu Vuvale Community fun day, were we have 16 teams competing, were we have the under-17, U15 and even the open grades U21 and above,” said Dyer.
“It’s all about having fun, getting the families together, the children and having a fun day, where everyone can come in and just enjoy the day with their families.
“With court that just opened this year, we really trying to utilise the court in more competitions and fun days.”
Dyer extending his heartfelt gratitude to the sponsors, community members, and the youths who actively participated, all of whom contributed to making the day a memorable and uplifting experience.
