THE Constitutional Office Commission has decided on who will be the next Supervisor of Elections.

However, the successful candidate will be named once the COC’s recommendations  reach President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere.

Speaking to the media after a four-hour long meeting in Suva yesterday, COC chairman and PM Sitiveni Rabuka said that most of the decisions which included the SOE, Commissioner of Corrections and Auditor General, will be forwarded to Ratu Wiliame for approval.

“Today (yesterday), we’ve had a full afternoon meeting and we dealt with all the agenda times put before by the COC,” Mr Rabuka said.

“Further, the commission having been advised by an independent committee pursuant to Section 136 (1) of the Constitution has endorsed to advise the President on the appropriate remuneration and allowances of the mentioned officers. This advise will be forwarded shortly to His Excellency.

“In addition also addressed procedural matters, including the adoption of draft standard operating procedures as a live document.”

He said the Commission’s meeting signified its commitment to ensuring the transparent and efficient processes in fulfilling its responsibilities.
