Digicel Fiji Under-16 girls head coach Angeline Chua has named her extended squad for the OFC U-16 Women’s Championship 2023 after successfully conducting zonal trials over the weekend.
While 46 players have been selected for the extended squad, Chua said it wasn’t easy to carry out the selection because of the huge interest from girls from all zones.
“We had 69 players in the Northern trial, 43 in the Western and 30 in the Southern zone trials,” Chua said.
“It was not easy to do the selection because there was huge interest from the girls in all the zones.”
The trials were held in Ba, Labasa, and Suva.
“All the players chosen from the trials will march into camp this weekend at Fiji FA Academy in Vatuwaqa for three days and we will then select the 30-member squad which will march into camp in August,” Chua added.
The OFC U-16 Women’s Championship 2023, will be held in Tahiti, from September 13-30. The following players are to match into camp this Friday.
