The Fiji Golf Club season opening was a great success with 132 starters competing at the Vatuwaqa golf course on a sunny day last Saturday.
Fiji Golf captain Zavir Khan noted the increased participation compared with previous years and praised the sunny weather that added to the enjoyment of the tournament which was sponsored by Goodman Fielder.
“This was a very successful tournament, we have around 132 starters compared to last year where we had just 100,” said Khan.
Despite some rain in the preceding weeks, the organisers were able to ensure a smooth event with many players expressing their satisfaction with the conditions.
“The weather was amazing despite the other few weeks we had rain, and the organisers were trying to get things sorted but it was a lovely weather,” Khan added.
“The atmosphere was lively and filled with enthusiasm, with golfers of all ages, including seniors and even an 80-year-old participant enjoying the day.
“The upcoming events on the golf club’s calendar include the Extra Supermarket monthly medals and an open tournament for professionals at the end of the month.”
The organisers thanked Goodman Fielder for their support and appreciated the presence of all the golfers who made the event a success.
