Three goals in the opening three minutes by nippy Nikil Chand saw the Suva side secure a 7-nil win over Veitongo FC in its first match of the OFC Futsal Men’s Champions League 2024 in New Caledonia on Wednesday.

After Chand did the early damage, captain Rajneel Singh and Deepal Singh added goals to put Suva on course for a cricket score after seven minutes against the Tongan club.

Captain Filipe Baravilala added a sixth three minutes before halftime while Veitongo conceded an own goal to trail 7-nil at the break.

Suva tried hard to increase its tally in the second spell but strong defence by the opponents saw the score line remain 7-nil.

Chand received the player of the match award for his outstanding performance.

The Whites played Vanuatu’s UNV FC in its second match last night.
