Swire Shipping Fijian Drua flanker Elia Canakaivata is determined that his team must secure victories in their upcoming matches to qualify for the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific quarterfinals.
Acknowledging the errors that led to their defeat against the Brumbies last week, Canakaivata remains optimistic about his team’s abilities to bounce back stronger.
He pointed out the importance of learning from past mistakes and believes in the team’s capacity to regroup and perform better in the upcoming matches.
“From my view the boys did great last week, they just need to learn from their small mistakes for this week. They will need to regroup, go hard this week and go for a win this week and the two remaining home games, there’s no alternative – we must win these matches to qualify for the quarterfinals,” Canakaivata stated.
Although still recovering from a knee injury, the Navunisole, Tailevu native eagerly awaits his return to the field to contribute to the team’s efforts.
He expressed confidence in his rehabilitation progress and looks forward to rejoining his teammates soon.
“My rehab has been going on well and I’m hopefully to recover well and join the boys on the field so we can finish this together. I’m just waiting for my physio,” he added.
The Drua play the Force at 11.55pm tomorrow in Perth.
