Cabinet has approved new measures aimed at improving the delivery of Fiji’s National Development Plan (NDP) 2025–2029 and Vision 2050, including the establishment of a dedicated problem-solving team to tackle delays affecting major government projects.

The new National Development Plan Problem-Solving Team will work across Government Ministries and Agencies to identify obstacles, resolve implementation challenges and ensure national priorities are delivered more efficiently.

According to Government, the team will play a key role in improving coordination between Ministries and Agencies, removing bottlenecks and supporting the timely completion of development initiatives.

Cabinet said the move forms part of broader efforts to strengthen the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the National Development Plan and Vision 2050.

In addition to the new team, Ministries and Agencies will be required to enhance reporting and accountability mechanisms through regular progress updates and the appointment of dedicated monitoring officers.

The Government said the strengthened framework is intended to ensure that development priorities are translated into tangible outcomes for communities across Fiji.

The National Development Plan serves as Fiji’s long-term roadmap for sustainable economic growth, improved public services, climate resilience and national development.

Cabinet said the enhanced monitoring and evaluation measures would improve transparency, accountability and whole-of-government coordination while ensuring that projects and programmes are delivered more effectively for the benefit of all Fijians.

The Government believes the new approach will help accelerate implementation, strengthen oversight and improve the overall delivery of services and infrastructure under the National Development Plan and Vision 2050.
