Students across Taveuni managed to sit their Language, Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (LANA) despite the suspension of bus services.
Divisional education officer northern Ronald Krishna said all students scheduled to sit the LANA assessment attended school.
He said temporary permits were issued for affected routes, while the bus company assured services would resume today.
In the meantime, the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC) has warned the island’s sole bus operator it could face legal action.
FCCC said it was investigating whether the decision to suspend scheduled services for students amounted to unconscionable conduct under Section 76 of the FCCC Act 2010.
Chief executive officer Senikavika Jiuta said if the investigation found breaches of the Act, the commission would not hesitate to institute court proceedings.
However, Taveuni Buses general manager Jaswant Kumar said the company had not been informed of any pending legal action.
“After discussion with FCCC, they said we have been told we have breached the bus services,” he said.
The company had decided to suspend all school trips over the last two days after repeated requests for a review of student fares were not approved for two years by FCCC.
