Winger Atelaite Buna at training yesterday – REINAL CHAND

THE McDonald’s Fiji Drua Women will look to continue their strong home form when they host the Brumbies at 4R Stadium in Ba today at 2pm, with exciting winger Atelaite Buna nicknamed “Bullet” set to be one of the key weapons on attack.

Known for her blistering speed and sharp finishing ability, Buna is expected to bring spark to the Drua backline as the side looks to build on lessons learned from their previous outing against the Western Force.

Speaking ahead of the match, Buna said the team has put in a solid week of preparation and is ready for another tough challenge.

“This week preparation, the girls have been preparing well for the game this Saturday and I’m also excited to have a run.

“It will be a good game and a tough match as well for us. We have improved and have worked on our weaknesses from the Western Force game.

“It will be a good game and we will prove ourselves.”

Head coach Mike Legge has also been pleased with the team’s response at training, highlighting their focus on fixing key areas such as breakdown work, defensive structure, and discipline after last week’s performance.

He said the Brumbies will bring a physical challenge and will aim to slow down the Drua’s attacking rhythm, but believes his side is better prepared this week.

“We’ve had a good week of preparation, the girls have worked hard on our weaknesses and we know what we need to improve.”

The match is expected to be another high-intensity contest, with the Drua Women looking to feed off the home crowd once again as they push for consistency across the full 80 minutes.

With pace out wide and growing confidence in camp, “Bullet” Buna could be the X-factor the Drua need to break open the Brumbies defence in Ba this afternoon.
