Swire Shipping Fijian Drua head coach Mick Byrne has named a strong 23-match day squad for their all-important clash against the Waratahs tonight and Byrne believes the onus is on the players to perform.

Flying Fijians prop Mesake Doge is likely to debut for the Drua off the bench and Byrne believes the 30-year old Bulu, Nadogo, Macuata lad is ready to go.

“He joined us from Fiji to train with us this week,” said Byrne.

“He’s coming back from a long term serious injury so we aren’t expecting much from him.

“We needed to get him back out there and be part of the team training.

“It’s just part of his progression and they fact that we’re in Sydney, we needed to get him in and be part of the squad.

“He’s already done his part of his work individually, he just needed to be part of the team to help with his progress and I think he is ready for the challenge this week.”

The Waratahs are coming into tonight’s match with three wins in a row and Byrne said his players have their work cut out for them.

“They’re on a trot and that adds strength with three wins in a row,” said the Drua coach.

“That adds momentum and gives them confidence.

“But I think we can match them across the park but we just have to be in sync.”

The match kicks off at 9.35pm.
