SOME people living in Vunika, Labasa, have been facing water supply problems for about three weeks following what they claim were damages to water pipes during roadworks in the area.

Resident Samson Jet said the water problems began when the roadworks started.

He said the problem became more noticeable after recent rain, when water began flowing through areas where drainage work remained incomplete.

“Many pipes have broken. Still have to fix the pipes,” he said.

“Residents without water have had to rely on Government water trucks. When you ring them, they will come – if they have time.”

He said residents wanted the damaged pipes and other infrastructure repaired.

Questions sent to acting commissioner Northern Apolosi Lewaqai seeking clarification on the water disruptions, damaged pipes and roadworks remain unanswered.
