Update: 10:15AM A THREE-year-old boy is believed to be Fiji’s latest road fatality following an accident along the Lovonivonu northern coastal road in Taveuni, Vanua Levu, on Christmas Day.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the boy was walking along the road with his parents in the afternoon when he allegedly ran across the road.
She said the young boy was allegedly hit by the vehicle driven by a 32-year-old bowser attendant of Lesuma.
Ms Naisoro said the boy was pronounced dead on arrival at the Taveuni hospital.
The suspect is in Police custody as investigations continue.
Also, a 38-year-old man died in a separate road accident at Nakelo Road in Tailevu yesterday morning, which Police said took the national road death to 66 compared with 60 for the same period last year.
