Despite criticism directed at him and the National Federation Party on social media, party leader Professor Biman Prasad says support for the party is stronger than at any point before the last three general elections.

Prof Prasad said recent meetings across the country had attracted strong attendance and interest from potential new members.

“I never felt this level of support and confidence that I see on the ground for the National Federation Party this time compared to the last three elections,” he said.

Prof Prasad said party meetings in Rakiraki, Tavua, Nausori and Nadi had attracted large crowds, with many people expressing interest in becoming members.

He said the response on the ground differed significantly from the perception created through social media commentary.

Prof Prasad added that people continued to appreciate NFP’s role in opposition and in helping form the Coalition Government in 2022.

“NFP has played the most significant role, in my view, to give the people an alternative choice, and that’s what will make NFP a much bigger force.”

“Right now, the NFP can claim to be one of the most multiracial parties in the country.”

Looking ahead to the next election, Prof Prasad said the party would play a significant role in shaping the country’s political future.
