THE Swire Shipping Fijian Drua held their first open training session at 4R Stadium at Govind Park in Ba yesterday as they stepped up preparations for their Super Rugby Pacific clash against the ACT Brumbies this Saturday.

Hundreds of fans gathered at the ground to watch the team train, showing strong support for the side ahead of the important fixture.

Supporters cheered throughout the session, with many taking the opportunity to see their favourite Drua players up close as the team fine-tuned their preparations for the weekend encounter.

The chief executive officer of the Fijian Drua Jeff Miller, said it was an exciting moment for the team to train in Ba and connect with supporters in the West.

“It’s a very exciting day. We have been looking forward to it for some time now. It’s a great stadium and it was good to train on the field yesterday. It’s also great to see everyone come out and support the Drua,” he said.

The training session ended with fans rushing onto the field to meet and greet the players, creating a lively atmosphere at the stadium.

In a special moment, women from Namosau Methodist Church performed a traditional ‘vakamamaca’ (welcome ceremony) marking the Drua’s first-ever training session in Ba.

The gesture reflected the strong community support the team continues to receive as they prepare for their clash against the Brumbies this weekend.
