Fiji’s aviation laws will be reviewed next year, with a view of modernising and strengthening it, said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Viliame Gavoka.
Speaking at the 45th anniversary commemoration of the Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji (CAAF) on Monday, Mr Gavoka paid homage to “the enduring legacy of an institution at the heart of our nation’s aviation industry”, with its achievements reflecting “Fiji’s commitment to excellence, progress, and leadership within the Pacific region.”
“In 2025, the strengthening of legislation will be a focus that will see the harmonisation of Fiji’s aviation laws with international standards.
“This will further solidify Fiji’s position as a trusted aviation hub in the Pacific,” Mr Gavoka said.
In tandem with celebrating its 45-year existence, CAAF is also rebranding.
“This initiative signals our nation’s intent to remain at the forefront of innovation and modernisation in the aviation industry,” Mr Gavoka said.
The rebranding embodies:
u Adaptation to Changing Needs: A dynamic approach to the rapidly evolving global aviation landscape.
u Commitment to Core Values: Upholding safety, security, and service as guiding principles.
u Regional Leadership: Strengthening Fiji’s position as a trusted aviation partner and regional hub.
Mr Gavoka said the Coalition Government fully supports CAAF’s transformation, in recognition of the potential of a reimagined CAAF to drive progress and innovation.
“As we look ahead, the Coalition Government is committed to ensuring that Fiji’s aviation sector continues to thrive. Our vision includes technological advancement, sustainability leadership, empowering the workforce, and regional excellence.
“CAAF’s legacy is not just about its past but a promise for a future driven by safety, innovation, and collaboration.”
