Saimoni Rokotunidau, who is charged with the attempted murder of Police Constable Senoveva Tikoduadua, is on the run.
State lawyer Hezekiah Nofaga confirmed to Justice Dane Tuiqereqere that Rokotunidau had also sold the property where he had been residing.
The State applied for Mr Rokotunidau’s two sureties to be summoned to court to explain why the accused has failed to attend court despite being ordered to do so as part of his bail conditions.
Justice Tuiqereqere granted the State’s application, with the two sureties now required to appear before the court on August 25 and explain Rokotunidau’s non-attendance.
Constable Tikoduadua, the daughter of Defence and Veterans Affairs Minister Pio Tikoduadua, was struck by a vehicle while manning a police checkpoint in Laqere, Nasinu, in April.
The vehicle was allegedly being pursued by police at the time.
