anticipation for the upcoming Fiji Fashion Week (FJFW24) reached a new high as models strutted their stuff at Suva’s Vodafone Arena during the inaugural model training session held on Saturday, April 20.

The event, which saw three groups of  male and female models in action, served as a preview to the glamour and style expected to grace the runway during the main event on May 31 and June 1.

Joan Kamikamica-Smith, the guest relations manager for Fiji Fashion Week, couldn’t contain her excitement about the talent on display.

“We had our first model training for FJFW24 yesterday, April 20th, and it was a fabulous start,” she said.

“We have a great group of models this year, and we are especially thrilled with the male models. They learned the runway options quickly, and even Ellen Whippy Knight is impressed with the current group. You can expect a great show this year.”

Temesia, a prominent figure in Fiji’s fashion scene, shared his thoughts on the successful training session. “Fiji Fashion Week recently concluded its first model training session of the year, marking a resounding success.

“Many of our seasoned models, with three to six years of experience showcasing their expertise. Additionally, we welcomed new models who are being mentored by our seasoned professionals.

“The training focused on mastering the nuances of the new runway for this year’s fashion show, covering various runway walks and their variations.

“It’s evident that Fiji boasts an exceptional pool of models who continuously excel and evolve in their craft, demonstrating remarkable professionalism and dedication to their development.”

The training session served as a crucial opportunity for models to perfect their walks and poses under the guidance of industry professionals.

With meticulous attention to detail, the models honed their skills, ensuring they will dazzle audiences with their confidence and grace during the main event.
