SWIRE Shipping Fijian Drua livewire outside centre Iosefo Masi was in the thick of things in their 24-17 win against Moana Pasifika in Super Rugby Pacific in Lautoka yesterday.
The Taveuni man was in his usual best in round 10 of the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific, showing his physicality under the scorching heat at Churchill Park.
While he did not find the tryline, Masi was the orchestrator of the Drua’s first try which player of the match Taniela Rakuro finished under the sticks just a minute after kickoff.
“Facing our Pacific brothers is always physical, that’s what we expected and we got that out there today (yesterday),” he said.
The Drua had to step up their performance in this match as it had the potential of deciding their fate in the top eight.
“Moana Pasifika gave us a really good game and I thank the boys for stepping up, playing well and for getting the victory.”
The Olympic gold medalist who has been the Drua’s first choice at outside centre since joining last season acknowledged their 16th man for the unwavering support especially at home.
“I thank all out supporters who turned up in numbers for this match. The team is grateful for your support and the players are moved, motivated by your cheers and prayers,” he added.
After the ninth round of Super Rugby Pacific, Masi led the statistics on defenders beaten with 41.
