Albanese arrives in Fiji to strengthen Vuvale Partnership

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese arrived in Fiji this evening for an official visit aimed at reinforcing the Fiji–Australia Vuvale Partnership and advancing cooperation on shared regional priorities.

Mr Albanese was welcomed at Nausori Airport by Deputy Prime Minister Viliame Gavoka and Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade Sakiasi Ditoka.

He was accorded a 50-member Guard of Honour by the Republic of Fiji Military Forces.

Accompanying the Australian Prime Minister is Australia’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Senator Penny Wong.

During the visit, Mr Albanese is scheduled to participate in a traditional welcoming ceremony, hold bilateral talks with the Fiji Government, and pay a courtesy call on President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu tomorrow morning.

In a statement, the Fiji Government said the visit reflects the enduring friendship between Fiji and Australia and reaffirms both nations’ commitment to the Vuvale Partnership, which is built on mutual respect, cooperation and a shared vision for a peaceful, secure and prosperous Pacific region.

The visit is expected to provide an opportunity for both countries to strengthen collaboration on issues including regional security, climate resilience, economic development and people-to-people ties.
