HEALTH and Medical Services Minister Rosy Akbar has assured that the medicine supply shortage issue has been sorted and most medicine has arrived into the country.
Ms Akbar said 141 out of the 142 medicine that were under the free medicine scheme were now available in the country.
She said other medicinal supplies started arriving into the country last week.
“Under the free medicine scheme we have all the medicine,” she said.
“We have 141 out of 142 of the essential medicines.
“The other drugs, our expected time of arrival for them was November 30, so most have come in and a few are still coming in.”
Ms Akbar had earlier said the ministry would also look into the consumption rate of medicine by the general public and the high rate of dependency on medicine.
She had said that Government would not compromise on the type of medicine being brought into the country because quality medicine was a priority issue.
