Maintenance work on five domestic airports will begin in May following successful consultations with stakeholders.
Fiji Airports said yesterday consultations were held with industry partners and stakeholders in the North and it has subsequently revised the scheduled maintenance work timeline and operational status for Lakeba, Matei (Taveuni) and Rotuma airports.
Fiji Airports CEO Mesake Nawari said the scheduled pavement maintenance work in Labasa and Savusavu airports remained the same.
Labasa: May 6 — June 16 with six weeks partial closure from 10am – 3pm;
Savusavu: June 24 — July 14 with three weeks of full closure;
Lakeba: August 5 — September 1, four weeks of operation which will not impact scheduled flights on Thursdays but airport is closed on other days;
Matei (Taveuni): September 18 — October 1, two weeks of work and full closure from September 18-24 but partial closure after 2pm from September 25 to October 1; and
Rotuma: November 4 — December 15 with six weeks f operations but no impact on scheduled flights on Wednesdays and Fridays. Airport is closed on other days.
