NATIONAL airline Fiji Airways will provide air travel support for cancer patients travelling for overseas treatment.
This after the airline signed a new partnership with the Fiji Cancer Society in Nadi on August 21.
Fiji Airways managing director and CEO Paul Scurrah said the partnership reflected the airline’s commitment to supporting the wellbeing of communities.
“At Fiji Airways, connection and the Fijian community is at the heart of everything we do,” he said in a statement.
“Through this partnership with the Fiji Cancer Society, we have an opportunity to support people through some of life’s most difficult journeys by helping improve access to care, treatment and specialist support.
“We are proud to stand alongside the society in this important work.”
Fiji Cancer Society’s CEO Belinda Chan said the new deal addressed one of the biggest challenges facing the organisation.
“For the Fiji Cancer Society, access has always been one of our biggest challenges, not the care itself but reaching it,” she said.
“This partnership with Fiji Airways changes that equation for patients, carers and our outreach teams across the islands we serve.
“It’s a significant step forward in our mission, and one we don’t take for granted.”
Fiji Cancer Society board director Inoke Bainimarama added the national airline was helping the society take their work further for their patients.
