Grace Road Group has announced a major investment in renewable energy via solar power to power its retail outlets and reduce its dependence on fossil fuel.

While not disclosing the value of the investment, the company said the move will help it navigate rising global fuel prices while supporting a cleaner and more sustainable future for Fiji.

“For the past few months, businesses across the world have been facing the same challenges caused by the fuel crisis,” Grace Road Group president Mr Daniel Kim said.

“We have felt those pressures too, but years of planning and investment in renewable energy have helped place us in a stronger position to manage those challenges.”

He said the company deliberately invested in sustainable energy solutions because it recognised the importance of preparing for future challenges rather than simply reacting to them.

Today, Grace Road Group’s facilities from the Western Division through to Navua are powered by solar energy, helping reduce reliance on conventional power sources while improving long-term operational resilience.

The Group is also continuing to expand its renewable energy programme, with solar installations planned across its Suva operations in the near future.

Mr Kim said the company’s experience demonstrates the value of long-term planning and innovation in an increasingly uncertain global environment.

“When businesses invest in energy security and efficiency, they are better positioned to protect their operations and continue serving their communities during difficult times,” he said.

While international fuel markets remain unpredictable, Grace Road Group believes renewable energy will continue to play an increasingly important role in strengthening business resilience while contributing to Fiji’s sustainable development.

“We cannot control international fuel markets, but we can control how we prepare for them.

“This experience has demonstrated the value of investing in renewable energy, innovation and resilience so that businesses are better equipped to navigate uncertainty,” Mr Kim said.

He said the company remained committed to expanding sustainable business practices and supporting a future where clean energy benefits businesses, communities and the environment alike.
