ABLAZE Hearts Netball Club is looking to continue its strong development pathway and competitive success this season at the NewWorld IGA Suva Netball Competition.

Club coach Filomena Korovulavula said the season had started positively, with players eager to return to the courts after the opening rounds of competition.

“The season is going really well. We just started last week and again this week, and we’re looking forward to a good year for Ablaze,” she said.

The club has entered 15 teams this season and welcomed many new players into its ranks.

Korovulavula said the club was aiming to build on last year’s success after winning the Roses Grade competition and remained hopeful of achieving more this season.

A passionate advocate for youth development says helping young players reach their potential remained her greatest motivation.

“This is what I love. Developing the young ones is a passion for me. I enjoy helping them improve every training session,” she said.

Korovulavula believes netball continues to provide valuable opportunities for young athletes, with many players using club competitions as preparation for secondary school tournaments and higher representative honours.

The club is also preparing for a tour to Australia next month, where three teams will compete against overseas opposition.
