THE fight against drug trafficking is an ongoing battle that requires continuous adaptation and collaboration, says Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Siromi Turaga.

He made this comment during the second Seaport Border Management Vessel Search Training at the Fiji Revenue Customs Service office in Votualevu, Nadi yesterday.

“The impact of illicit drugs on our society cannot be overstated,” he said.

“They fuel addiction, devastate families, and perpetuate crime and violence.

“Training programs like this provide a vital platform for sharing intelligence, refining strategies, and enhancing coordination among seaport board controllers and partner agencies.”

Mr Turaga said the community and leaders played a major role in guiding youths in the right direction.

“The solutions must come from the community, churches, vanua, families and of course must come from the Government.”

He said the Coalition Government was committed to providing them with the support, resources, and assistance needed to succeed in their roles.

“We cannot contemplate, and decisive action is required of us.

“Together, we will continue to strengthen our borders, uphold the rule of law, and ensure the safety and security of our nation.”
