LAWYERS must maintain professionalism at all times, says Attorney General Aiyaz-Sayed Khaiyum.
Addressing the Legal Aid Commission first national conference at Warwick Hotel in Sigatoka yesterday, Mr Sayed-Khaiyum advised lawyers that they must have a level of professional attitude towards the work that they do.
He said they must ensure to present themselves professionally to their staff and clients.
Mr Sayed-Khaiyum told the Legal Aid lawyers that they must remember that people who visited their office may not be paying their legal fees directly to their organisation but they were paying legal fees through the taxation system.
He said as lawyers, they must also work to ensure their colleagues maintained a professional behaviour.
“If somebody, one of your colleagues or fellow lawyers is actually doing something not acceptable, you need to actually report it,” Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said.
He acknowledged the Commission for its role and said lawyers must work to ensure an effective service delivery.
