Cabinet confirms eleven 2026 public holidays

Cabinet has endorsed the official public holiday dates for 2026.

The holidays include major religious, cultural, and national commemorations and will be formally declared by the Minister for Employment, Productivity and Workplace Relations through a Gazette Notice.

The 2026 public holiday dates are as follows:

  1. New Year’s Day – Thursday, 1 January

  2. Good Friday – Friday, 3 April

  3. Easter Saturday – Saturday, 4 April

  4. Easter Monday – Monday, 6 April

  5. Girmit Day – Friday, 15 May

  6. Ratu Sir Lala Sukuna Day – Friday, 29 May

  7. Prophet Mohammed’s Birthday – Monday, 24 August

  8. Fiji Day – Saturday, 10 October

  9. Diwali – Monday, 9 November

  10. Christmas Day – Friday, 25 December

  11. Boxing Day – Monday, 28 December

The announcement allows employers, businesses, schools, and the public to plan ahead for the year.
