New Zealand promoters invite Kwadjo for talk

JOSEPH Kwadjo has been invited to meet some promoters in Auckland, New Zealand to discuss bouts for him in future programs.

Kwadjo participated at the Super 8 Redemption Knockout Tournament in Christchurch last week but failed to make it to the semi-finals.

New Zealand National Boxing Federation (NZNBF) board member and official Faiyaz Khan said Kwadjo fought well against New Zealand’s cruiserweight number two Lance Bryant.

Khan said Bryant held an impressive record of 44 wins and six losses.

“The fight started very well with Kwadjo winning the first round, but Bryant won the second and third round,” he said.

“Though Bryant won the fight, it was not easy. The two things that went against Kwadjo were fighting in the cruiserweight division and not having heavy sparring sessions as the Super 8 consists of three rounds which requires lots of fitness and speed.”

The judge’s score cards read 29-28 (Khan), 29-28 (David Craig) and 30-29 (Luana Swlagaer), all in Bryant’s favour.

Khan said Fijian boxers looking for fights in New Zealand should contact the Boxing Commission of Fiji for approval before coming over.

“The process is easy because BCF and NZNBF have a memorandum of understanding to protect Fijian fighters while they are in New Zealand for boxing,” he said.

The Super 8 event was won by Israel Adesanya who defeated Brian Minto on split points.
