To reach the bronze award level for the Duke of Edinburgh International Awards (DEIA), nine students of Votualevu College in Nadi completed six months of training.
The students, according to the Ministry of Youth and Sports had to undergo the final component of the bronze level, which was the adventurous journey.
“Despite facing challenges, these young Fijians showed determination and resilience to complete the six-month program for the bronze award level,” the ministry stated.
The adventurous journey took place on March 8 where the students had to camp at Nasesevia Secondary School which is located on the border of Nadi and Sigatoka.
“This experience pushed the students out of their comfort zones and allowed them to explore life beyond their normal routines,” the ministry said.
“The ministry commended the students for their dedication and perseverance.
“Special thanks is extended to the National Fire Authority for their valuable support and life-skills training during the camp.
“The students were thrilled to have completed the bronze level award and are eager to embark on the next challenge of achieving the silver award level.
Their accomplishment is a testament to their hard work and commitment to their personal growth.
According to the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, millions of young people have been inspired to transform their lives and discover what they are truly capable of achieving.
It highlights that every day more than 1400 young people aged between 14 and 24 embark on the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award with seven plus million awards gained since its inception.
