For the first time, the Fiji Corrections Service Yellow Ribbon Walk of Acceptance was held in Labasa.

Many young Fijians turned up to show their support towards the giving a second chance program.

The participants, before going on the 2.5km walk, did some aerobic exercises that were organised by the Fiji Corrections Service.

According to a Fiji Government statement, the walk was led by the President, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, and the First Lady, Filomena Katonivere.

The walk started from Subrail Park 1, went through Labasa Town and ended at Subrail Park.

Also present at the walk was the Fiji Corrections Service Acting Commissioner, Salote Panapasa.

Mr Katonivere, during his address to the participants, emphasised the significance of fostering an environment of acceptance within communities, stressing the importance of providing ex-offenders care, love and a sense of belonging.

Ms Panapasa, in expressing her gratitude, thanked all the participants for their support towards the awareness program which aims at offering ex-offenders a second chance.

The event included entertainment, a dog show, refreshments for the participants and other fun activities.
