Work is in progress at the prominent Suva foreshore to construct the 179-room Hilton Garden Inn property.

Carpenters Fiji Limited managing director Daniel Whippy provided this update at the recent Fijian Tourism Expo and stated that this is exciting for the group and their first venture in the tourism sector.

Mr Whippy said this investment would not only cater for accommodation but also big conferences and meetings in the capital.

Scheduled to open in May, 2025, the multi-million dollar investment is expected to add a lot more spice to the fewer existing properties in Suva and attract international visitors alike.

He told hoteliers and investors that the first stage of construction would complete in 21 months before the completion of the final construction work.

The hotel comprises a six-storey building, 179 rooms and a large conference room and will be managed by leading global brand the Hilton Group.

In 2019, the Hilton Group announced further expansion of its portfolio in Fiji, following the signing of two management agreements with Carpenters Properties Limited for Hilton Suva and Hilton Garden Inn Suva.

Mr Whippy had also indicated to hospitaliynet.org that the group plans on replicating the success of other waterfront entertainment and commercial precincts across Asia Pacific and are thrilled to have Hilton Suva and Hilton Garden Inn Suva as the anchor hotels for this project.

Meanwhile, Tourism Minister Viliame Gavoka also highlighted that these latest investment would make way for 1400 rooms in the pipeline, valued at $785 million around Fiji.

He says Government welcomes investments from both the foreign and domestic markets.

“We want laws that are fit for purpose and help deliver investor confidence,” Mr Gavoka said.

“Under the Ministry of Trade, the Government has also established an Investment Facilitation Committee that looks into bottlenecks that hinder investments in Fiji.”
