Nasinu managed to score a last-minute goal to beat Rakiraki 4-3 in a senior division match on Sunday at the Penang Sangam High School grounds.

Solomon Islander Harry Dawson managed to beat the Rakiraki defence to slot in the winning goal two minutes from fulltime. Both the sides were locked at two-all at halftime.

“We didn’t train as a team because of unavailability of ground and adverse weather conditions,” said acting Rakiraki Football Association president Jay Krishnan. “‘Nasinu was a hard nut to crack, but we gave them a tough run.

“No doubt the Nasinu side was a tough opponent and the seven goals scored showed how fast the match was.”

Rakiraki has so far registered a draw and loss in the league, and they play Lami in two weeks’ time.

“We will get stronger and stronger from here onwards.”

Scorers for Rakiraki were Ronnil Ram, Ronald Dutt and Savenaca Adronu while Harry Dawson and Jeremaih Manehanita scored two goals each on Sunday.
