GOVERNMENT rolled out its AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccination program at the Nadi International Airport yesterday.

Ecstatic Lautoka Hospital consultant anaesthetist Dr Mara Vukivukiseru, the first Fijian in the country to receive the jab, described the experience as “the first beautiful step in the right direction”.

Health Minister Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete said no Fijian would pay for the vaccine because Government had set aside $75 million to ensure Fiji kept receiving regular doses.

Dr Waqainabete said the first 6000 vaccines would be administered to airport and frontline workers.
