WE need to put more emphasis on education and encourage students from the province of Tailevu to enhance it to the next level.
This was highlighted by the chairman of Tailevu Provincial Council Rusiate Tudravu while speaking at the scholarship awards at their office in Nausori yesterday.
He acknowledged the support shown by the chiefs and the district representatives for agreeing to allocate part of their provincial levy to the scholarship fund.
“The council’s education committee now has been able to give out scholarships to the students from our province because of the foresight and willingness of our chiefs and district reps,” he said.
“We need to provide these scholarships in order to encourage our students to work hard and be able to secure well-paying jobs for themselves.”
Chairperson of the council’s education committee Dr Akanisi Kedrayate said 88 students would benefit from this scholarships.
“Only education will enable us to soar to greater heights.
“This is our time to soar to those great heights and we believe these scholarships will provide the extra push for our students to work hard in whatever field of study they chose to pursue.”
